Elizabeth + Tyler’s Historic Rice Mill wedding on Saturday was full of Charleston charm! The Historic Rice Mill in February is the perfect venue! Elizabeth + Tyler made an excellent choice to get married in one of the great historic buildings in downtown Charleston. It’s definitely one of those venues in Charleston that makes an impression on guests! It’s such a unique building with some of the best views of the harbor! It’s naturally an amazing place to have your wedding portraits done!

Elizabeth + Tyler
I feel like I’ve known Elizabeth + Tyler for years! In fact, I feel like I’ve known their families for years. I could not have asked for a nicer group of people to photograph and spend the entire day with. It’s not surprising that such a wonderful couple comes from such a kind and welcoming family. Elizabeth + Tyler’s wedding day was filled with so much joy and celebration. These two deserved nothing but the best for their Historic Rice Mill wedding!
Back in July when they flew in town for their engagement photos it was a total washout! The rain would not let up during the time of our session. That didn’t matter though. The two of them handled the rain with such grace. They didn’t let it stress them out. They put trust in me, and went along with all of my suggestions to capture the best photos possible…and let me tell you we got some amazing ones in the rain! You can check out a few of their rainy day engagement photos in my 2019 highlights here!
Trust and Comfort
After that day, I knew that we were meant to work together. Trust and comfort are two of the most important components to working well with your photographer on the wedding day. Needless to say, these two made some magic in front of my camera at their Historic Rice Mill wedding on Saturday. You’ll just have to take a look below to see for yourself.
Getting Ready
The day started off with getting ready photos of each of them. Elizabeth got ready at her parent’s beautiful home in Mount Pleasant. She prepped for the big day alongside her parents, sisters, bridesmaids and adorable flower girls. I’m pretty much obsessed with all of the details and colors she chose to weave into her day. Also, you can’t miss the gorgeous sapphire ring that was given to her by her mother, and passed down generations. I could not stop photographing it! Elizabeth clearly made a GORGEOUS bride. She chose the perfect dress. I loved the detachable skirt so much! Tyler got ready at the Vendue Hotel in Downtown Charleston with his groomsmen. The guys have it so easy compared to the girls! Their getting ready takes about 5 minutes..lucky!
The Sweetest Day
The day included 2 of the sweetest first looks I’ve ever witnessed. Starting with Elizabeth’s first look with her father, followed by Elizabeth + Tyler’s first look at The Rice Mill. I suggest you definitely scroll through this post to see those photos!
The ceremony was right before sunset on the banks of the Charleston Harbor. After the ceremony we snagged a bunch of sunset photos, and they are some of my favorite of the entire day! I love taking a few minutes right before sunset to take advantage of the golden hour glow. I mean who doesn’t want sunset portraits? The Historic Rice Mill is an amazing spot to view the gorgeous Charleston sunset!
The night was then filled with lots of dancing and a lot of laughs! Capturing dancing photos is fun, but it’s extra fun when you have a group of friends and family like Elizabeth + Tyler. Once the party started, the dancing did not stop! I love weddings at the Rice Mill because it’s a large venue, yet it feels cozy and comfortable for guests.
Elizabeth + Tyler, I wish you many many years of love and happiness. Thank you for letting me take part in your beautiful day!
Thank you again for inviting me to be a part of your wedding day. I’m so grateful for the opportunity. Your Historic Rice Mill wedding was just stunning, and the two of you are a one of a kind. I wish you many years of love and happiness!
xoxo
