When I moved to Charleston in 2013, I moved here not knowing a single person. Life suddenly was completely different. I had a new last name, in a new city, and a new job. Just days after my wedding I started my new teaching job as a special education teacher at a local elementary school. That’s where I met my first friend in Charleston, Meggie, who has turned into a lifelong friend. Meggie was a fifth grade teacher, and as a special education teacher, I worked with a lot of her students. We instantly became friends and have been ever since! We’ve gone on a lot of long runs together, typically followed by a lot of local happy hours 🙂 The two of us have definitely learned to enjoy the Charleston lifestyle to the fullest!
When Meggie met her now husband Lee, I was so thrilled that she found someone to spend the rest of her life with. When asking me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding I was extremely honored to be chosen. Of course we both knew that I had to photograph some aspect of her wedding journey, so we decided bridal portraits would be the perfect opportunity! We traveled to Winston Salem, NC on the weekend that the big snowstorm was due to hit. It was a quick but cold, trip. Meggie chose to have the photos done at Grayln Estate, the location that her wedding would be. I was bundled up from head toe toe during the photoshoot, while Meggie embraced the cold like a champ. I have never seen my good friend happier than since she met her husband Lee. The wedding day was perfect, even with periods of rain. Let me tell you though, my photographer friend Arika Jordan took the most amazing nighttime shots in the rain of Meggie and Lee. Meggie and Lee I wish you a lifetime of happiness. Meggie I’m so thankful for our awesome friendship!
